Adams' successor has already been chosen. Jennifer Newstead will join Apple as Senior Vice President on January 1, 2026. On March 1, 2026, she will assume the role of General Counsel. Her previous experience includes serving as Chief Legal Officer at Meta and, prior to that, as a legal advisor to the U.S. Department of State. Adams will remain with the company after handing over her current responsibilities. When Jackson departs at the end of January 2026, Adams will initially take over as head of Government Affairs. Jackson played a key role in Apple's sustainability strategy and, with her team, achieved a reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions of more than 60 percent since 2015. She also worked extensively with governments worldwide and championed issues such as education, accessibility, data privacy, and security.
