The new payment method is called Apple Card and is being developed in collaboration with Goldman Sachs. Cupertino wants to bring a particularly secure credit card to the market with Apple Card. The promise: Apple has no insight into users' purchases. In addition, the credit card number itself is not transmitted - when a purchase is started, a unique code is transmitted. This is generated anew with each purchase. But what's the catch?
Germany is an important market
The catch is availability. The card will initially only be available in the USA. The physical version will be made of titanium and will be available in the summer.
There was no comment on when other countries will be able to benefit from the new card. Unlike Apple, the investment bank Goldman Sachs was more talkative. Goldman Sachs International CEO Richard Gnodde revealed more details in an interview with CNBC. With regard to the Apple Card, Europe, especially Germany, is an interesting and important market. A rapid expansion after the market launch is therefore certain. After the USA, Germany is to be the next target. In addition to Germany, Great Britain is also set to benefit from the new credit card much sooner. If Gnodde is to be believed, the Apple Card come to Germany earlier than expected – of course he did not give a specific date.
