A bank vault deep beneath Zurich's city center, a disgraced FBI agent, and a career criminal from the USA: Apple TV has announced the release date for the heist series "12 12 12" and released the first images. The premiere falls on Friday the 13th – and the finale on Christmas Day.

Apple TV has announced the eight-part series "12 12 12" for Friday, November 13, 2026. The series will launch globally with the first two episodes, followed by one episode per week. This continues Apple's fall programming, which previously ended on October 30 – November was still vacant. Details are available in the Apple TV announcement, which also includes the first images from the production.

Key Facts at a Glance

  • Launches on Friday, November 13, 2026, worldwide with two episodes
  • Eight episodes in total, then weekly on Fridays until December 25th.
  • Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan star in and produce the series.
  • The story unfolds on three timelines: 12 months of planning, 12 hours of the heist, 12 days afterwards.
  • Zurich is the central location, but the story unfolds across Europe.

Three timelines, one vault

The title describes the narrative structure. Each episode moves between the twelve months of preparation, the twelve hours of the actual robbery, and the twelve days that follow. At its heart is a bank vault deep beneath the streets of Zurich.

Anthony Mackie plays a disgraced FBI agent, Jamie Dornan an American career criminal. A cat-and-mouse game ensues between the two across Europe, triggered by the heist itself. The two last appeared together on screen in the 2019 film "Synchronic".

The series was conceived by the writing duo Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, who also serve as producers. Kari Skogland directs several episodes, including the pilot, and is also a producer.

The ensemble alongside the two main roles

Alongside Mackie and Dornan, Apple has assembled an international cast for the series. Jack Kesy, known from "Hellboy: The Crooked Man," is on board, along with Agathe Rousselle from "Titane" and Sallie Harmsen from "Blade Runner 2049." Also in the ensemble are José Garcia and Kali Reis, known from "True Detective."

Mackie is producing through his company Make It With Gravy, along with Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller, and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. Dornan is also listed as an executive producer.

Eight episodes leading up to Christmas Day

After the double premiere, the series will air weekly throughout the Advent season. The final episode will be released on December 25th – Christmas Day in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This is the schedule based on information from Apple:

EpisodeDate
1 and 2Friday, November 13, 2026
3Friday, November 20, 2026
4Friday, November 27, 2026
5Friday, December 4, 2026
6Friday, December 11, 2026
7Friday, December 18, 2026
8Friday, December 25, 2026

The timeframe follows the current fall releases. The sixth season of Slow Horses ends on October 21, just over three weeks before the premiere of the heist series.

From the Skydance project to a Paramount production

A noteworthy line at the end of the announcement states that Apple now lists Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content as the producing studios. When the series was ordered in 2024 and in the casting announcements of the following year, it was still listed under Skydance Television.

This isn't a change in personnel, but rather a restructuring in Hollywood. Following the merger of Skydance Media and Paramount Global in August 2025, the previously discontinued Paramount Television Studios was revived and incorporated Skydance Television, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. For Apple, this means that one of the year's more prominent new releases comes from a studio that now belongs to the company behind the competing streaming service Paramount+. This isn't unusual: Apple commissions its series from external production studios, in this case also from Anonymous Content.

Why the setting carries more weight here than usual

Heist stories typically take place in Las Vegas, London, or Monte Carlo. Apple's decision to place the vault beneath downtown Zurich and have the chase unfold across Europe shifts the perspective: the financial center isn't merely a backdrop, but the very reason for the story. For German-speaking audiences, this offers an approach not usually found in American genre films.

In practical terms, this means no staggered market launch, no waiting time, and no regional restrictions. The series will launch simultaneously in all countries where Apple TV is available. However, if you don't like weekly releases, you'll need patience – there are six weeks between the premiere and the finale.

Does a bank heist set in Zurich appeal to you more than the twentieth vault in Las Vegas – or does the location not matter to you as long as the resolution is good? Tell us in the comments which heist story has set the bar for you so far.
