iOS 19 is still almost half a year away from its official announcement, but the first rumors and information are already attracting attention. Apple could bring some exciting new features with this version that will take your iPhone to the next level. Below we take a detailed look at the most important features and all known details about iOS 19.

Every year, the new iOS version is a hotly anticipated event that not only improves the current iPhones but also shows the direction Apple wants to take mobile technology. This year's iOS 19 rumors promise big changes - from a redesigned camera app to a Siri that can compete with modern AI tools like ChatGPT. Here's everything you need to know so far.

The most important innovations and rumors about iOS 19

The revised camera app

One of the most exciting changes in iOS 19 could be the redesigned Camera app. According to YouTuber Jon Prosser, who recently shared details on his YouTube channel "Front Page Tech," the new app is heavily inspired by visionOS .

The most noticeable innovation is transparent menus that create more space for the camera viewfinder. These menus are clearly divided into the categories "Photo" and "Video" and offer quick access to important settings. It is still unclear whether the visionOS-like design will also be integrated into other apps and areas of iOS 19. There were similar rumors about iOS 18, but in the end there were no major design changes. Apple may have held back these ideas for iOS 19.

Siri becomes more conversational

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a significant improvement to Siri. The digital assistant will be based on advanced language models that make it more similar to the behavior of AI tools such as ChatGPT. With iOS 19, Siri will be able to understand more complex requests and respond better to context. However, the full launch of the new Siri feature is not expected to take place until spring 2026. Apple plans to roll out the features in a later version - possibly iOS 19.4. Expectations that Siri will work completely like ChatGPT as early as next year should remain muted, however. Apple seems to be taking a staggered approach here.

New features appear in steps

Apple is known for distributing new features across multiple updates. With iOS 19, many features are also expected to appear after the first release. Additional innovations could be added between versions iOS 19.1 and iOS 19.4 to gradually improve the user experience.

Compatible devices

A big advantage of iOS 19 is that it will be compatible with all iPhones that support iOS 18. This includes models all the way back to the iPhone XS, which was released in 2018. Here is the full list of supported devices:

  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

It's likely that some of the new features will only be available on newer models, though. Still, this could be the second year in a row that Apple isn't removing older devices from the update list.

publication period

The first beta version of iOS 19 is expected during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. The final version should then be released as usual in September 2025 together with the new iPhones.

iPhone: A software update with promising innovations

iOS 19 could prove to be one of Apple's most exciting software updates yet. With an improved camera app, a smarter and more conversational Siri, and broad device support, Apple is showing that it's focused on the needs of its users. Although some of the new features won't be introduced until later in the year, there are plenty of reasons to look forward to iOS 19.
