Unfortunately, with iOS 16, Apple hasn't announced many new features for its music streaming service Apple Music - unlike in recent years. However, there are a few features and improvements that Apple Music users will love with iOS 16.
Let’s start with a function that we have already reported have. Apple Music on iOS 16 lets users sort playlists. Previously, all playlists in the Music app were sorted by the order in which songs were added to the list: the first songs added at the top and the most recently added at the bottom. This new feature in Apple Music on iOS 16 lets you sort your playlists by song, artist, album, and more. When you open an artist's profile, there's also a new Favorites toggle that lets you "keep track of the artists you care about most with new music notifications and improved recommendations." - The volume indicator in the Apple Music app has a new look. It looks similar to the bar that shows the length of the song;
- When searching for albums, playlists, singles, etc. you will notice that the covers are rounder;
- The Apple Music widget on the iOS 16 lock screen is now different. It also shows the devices you are currently listening to music on (HomePod, AirPods, Beats earbuds, and even wired headphones);
- When using SharePlay through the Messages app, activities like movies, music, workouts, games, and more are now synced with friends while you chat in iMessage;
- You can drag and drop songs into the queue;
- You can move music from one HomePod to another without AirPlaying it to the other HomePod.
Last but not least, Apple Music users will benefit from a new feature called personalized spatial audio. Available for AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max on iOS 16, this feature uses your iPhone's TrueDepth sensor to create a 3D map of your face and ears while you use an AirPods device. Personalized spatial audio significantly improves the sound quality of Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio and is definitely worth trying out once it's available to all users in the fall. (Image: Apple)
