Earlier this year, a report suggested that Apple was developing a redesigned iPad mini with no home button and slimmer bezels. Now Bloomberg is reporting that the device will be released this fall. There are also new hints of a brand new iMac with a larger display.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter reported Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman that the new iPad mini will be released later this fall. Gurman says the design will be similar to the current iPad Air, along with the latest processor inside. He describes it as "the biggest redesign in the nine-year history" of the iPad mini. As a reminder, Apple last updated the iPad mini in 2019, incorporating the faster A12 Bionic processor as well as other improvements and Apple Pencil support. In May 2020, reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple would unveil an iPad mini measuring between 8.5-inches and 9-inches in the first half of 2021. Unfortunately, this has not come to pass. But the redesigned iPad mini seems to be planned for this fall instead.
In addition to iPad mini 6: Apple resumes development of the new iMac
In addition, Gurman suggests in the newsletter that Apple has resumed development of the iMac with a larger screen. Accordingly, the larger Apple Silicon model is still planned. It states:
The larger, redesigned iMac that replaces the Intel 27-inch models is on the way and could arrive with an even larger screen. The device will likely be powered by an M1X or M2X processor - further details are still unknown.
In May, Bloomberg reported that Apple had paused work on its larger-screen iMac to focus on shipping the 24-inch M1 iMac. It is currently unknown whether the device will be released this fall, as previously suggested. (Image: Jon Prosser x Rendersbyan)
