The next generation of 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will have new chips but few other changes, according to well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a post on Medium writes Kuo said Apple has cut its fourth-quarter shipment forecast for the new MacBook Pro models by 20 to 30 percent before mass production of the notebooks begins. Kuo explains that signs of a recession and fewer people working from home are two reasons for Apple's order decline, while "limited new selling points" for the new MacBook Pro models could also affect demand. The analyst writes:

The most significant upgrade in the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros is simply the introduction of new processors. The limited new selling points could also lead to lower demand than expected.
It's not surprising that few changes are planned for the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, as the notebooks were introduced in October 2021 with a major redesign that included a notch at the top of the display and the return of ports such as MagSafe and HDMI. MacBooks often go several generations between major hardware changes. The new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to feature Apple's M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which Kuo says will continue to be manufactured in 5nm.
