The WWDC 2022 keynote is just around the corner. Now Mark Gurman has spoken out once again and reported on an update to the MacBook Pro 13″ model.
While a new MacBook Air could soon see the light of day, it seems that a 13-inch MacBook Pro was expected, but has now been delayed. In its "Power On" newsletter writes Gurman said that “a faster 13-inch MacBook Pro was also planned,” but the lockdowns in China may have thrown that part of the roadmap into disarray:
A faster 13-inch MacBook Pro was also planned for launch at the same time as the new Air, but lockdowns in China may have thrown that part of the roadmap off track as well. When that device launches, it will look exactly like the current 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2020, just without the Touch Bar.
New MacBook models in focus
Apple unveiled its redesigned MacBook Pro in October last year with the powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, miniLED with ProMotion display, and plenty of new ports. The new MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is rumored to have the M2 chip, Apple's Touch Bar, and the same USB-C ports. Just like when the first series of M1 Macs were unveiled, this MacBook Pro will likely be a bit faster than the new MacBook Air. Gurman also sums up what he expects from this new MacBook Air:
- A new design that is “not dissimilar” to the current MacBook Pro
- New colors (dark blue, space gray, silver and a champagne-like gold)
- 13-inch display
- Two USB-C ports
- MagSafe charging
- Touch ID
