Apple is gearing up to release its next M3 Mac devices, with new MacBook Air models expected to launch in March. While these updates could be a welcome upgrade for some users, high-end Mac enthusiasts may have to wait some time before M3-capable versions of the Mac Studio and Mac Pro appear.

Apple has already impressed the world with the launch of its M3 versions of the 24-inch iMac, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro. But the company has more in store and plans to upgrade more products to the M3 generation.

M3 MacBook Air Update in March: What can we expect?

The rumor mill is bubbling and loud According to Mark Gurman, author of Bloomberg's "Power On" newsletter, we can expect updated MacBook Air models in March. While these new versions, internally referred to as the J613 and J615, are not expected to bring any groundbreaking design changes, they will come with improved specs. It's important to note, however, that the launch of these models is likely more for those who still own older M1 or Intel Macs than for M2 owners. The M2 version of the 15-inch MacBook Air has already been out since June, and too fast an upgrade cycle might be unattractive for those users. One interesting aspect of this upcoming release is the possibility that Apple will discontinue the M1 MacBook Air and instead position the M2 version as the new low-end model.

High-end models: Mac Studio and Mac Pro

While the MacBook Air series will soon be upgraded to the M3 chip, high-end users will have to wait a little longer. The high-end models, including the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, are not expected to be updated until late 2024 or possibly even 2025. This means that those waiting for powerful workstations will have to be patient. Apple obviously plans to focus on the wide range of Mac products before updating the high-end models. (Image: Apple)
