It is now considered certain that Apple is planning to introduce a new MacBook Pro model with a completely new design in autumn 2019. Now new details about the device's features have emerged.

According to rumors, the new MacBook Pro will come with a 16-inch screen. Despite the larger display, it will retain the overall size of the previous top model. An edge-to-edge display makes this possible. According to previous reports, this should have a resolution of 3,072 × 1,920 pixels. Now IHS Markit analyst Jeff Lin has spoken out again. This time he claims to have learned new information about the drive of the new super notebook. According to him, Apple plans to equip the MacBook Pro 16-inch with Intel's 9th generation Coffee Lake processors. The i9 chip should contain up to eight cores and clock at 2.4 GHz. The Turbo Boost reaches a whopping 5.0 GHz. However, there will also be a version with an i7 processor. This only has six cores. The news has caught the attention of many observers. Until now, they assumed that Apple would equip the new professional notebook with a 10th generation Ice Lake processor.

New keyboard expected

A fundamental and particularly important innovation is said to be a new keyboard technology. Too many problems have brought the previous butterfly keyboard into disrepute - further development of the technology is therefore no longer worthwhile. The technology behind the new keyboard is based on so-called scissor switches - i.e. with a real pressure mechanism like in previous years. Despite the old technology, the design of the upcoming keyboard is said to be completely new - Apple also wants to make the keys more durable. Fiberglass is said to be used for this. While Lin believes that the device will be presented in September, the vast majority are assuming October. Apple usually presents new Mac and iPad models in October, as September is reserved for new iPhone and Apple Watch models. The new MacBook Pro 16-inch is said to be available for around 3,000 US dollars - the price for the high-end version is not yet known.
