A new Mac Pro due out in 2022 could use Intel's Ice Lake Xeon W-3300 workstation chips. That's at least what an Intel leaker claims, who has provided reliable information about Intel Xeon chips in the past, according to WCCFtech.

Intel's W-3300 Ice Lake CPUs are expected to hit the market in the near future and will be used in the Mac Pro, among other things (via WCCFtech). Interestingly, there were already signs for new Ice Lake SP processors in the Xcode 13 beta. Intel has stated that these chips will offer "enhanced performance, security, efficiency, and integrated AI acceleration to handle IoT workloads and more powerful AI." Ice Lake chips for the Mac Pro would offer up to 38 cores and 76 threads, with the Xeon W-3775 positioned as Intel's top chip in the lineup. This top chip features 57MB of cache and a clock speed of 4.0GHz.

Mac Pro 2022: An Apple Silicon version is also expected

While Apple is transitioning its Mac lineup to Apple silicon and developing a version of the Mac Pro that will run on an Apple silicon chip, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has already claimed that Apple will also update the Intel Mac Pro. Rumors suggest that Apple is working on a smaller Mac Pro that is about half the size of the original and is expected to include an Apple silicon chip. But in parallel, the company is also developing a new version of the current Mac Pro. The Intel-based Mac Pro, which is in the works with Intel's W-3300 Ice Lake chips, could be one of the last Intel Macs that Apple will unveil. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
