In addition to the already introduced 24" iMac, Apple is planning to introduce a larger model that will replace the current 27" version. The presentation was previously expected by the end of this year. However, the whole thing could now be delayed.

The leaker Dylandkt currently claims on Twitterthat Apple's "high-end iMac" will not be released in the fourth quarter of 2021 alongside Apple's "M1X Macs" - a reference to Apple's redesigned MacBook Pro models - because "Apple simply doesn't want their devices to compete for attention and delays in product releases have led to this schedule." Dylandkt has already claimed several times that an "M1X" Apple Silicon chip is intended for high-end Macs. This includes the large iMac as well as the MacBook Pro line.

New iMac could appear with M1X or M2X chip

Based on various reports, Apple is currently expected to unveil two brand new MacBook Pro devices in 14" and 16" sizes sometime between September and November. Renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has also stated that he believes the larger, redesigned iMac will feature an M1X or M2X chip. However, he was tight-lipped about the launch date. So anyone waiting for a new, larger iMac model may have to wait a little longer, as Dylandkt claims the device will be released sometime in 2022. Of course, as always, it remains to be seen whether he's right in the end. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
