Four new iPhone models are expected in the premium segment this year. One of the innovations is said to be the introduction of 5G support.

The iPhone 12 series is expected to offer 5G support in addition to a new design and an updated camera. But Apple seems to be concerned about the current COVID-19 pandemic. According to a new report, the company is planning to significantly increase its inventory. The news site explains Nikkei Asian Review:

Component shortage could become a problem

Apple has informed several of its suppliers that it plans to produce about 213 million iPhones in the 12 months through March 2021, 41% more than in the same period last year, although some suppliers believe orders could end up being significantly lower, Nikkei has learned.

Apple seems to be afraid of a shortage of components due to the current situation. The company is therefore planning to hoard significantly more iPhone 12 models than the company's policy actually allows. According to current reports, the iPhone 12 series will consist of four models, including a 5.4-inch device, two 6.1-inch models and the 6.7-inch flagship. In addition, all four iPhones will have an OLED screen. (Photo by Gargantiopa / Bigstockphoto)
