Reports about new iPad Pro models have been increasing in recent weeks. While many expect a launch in March, others believe it will be presented in the fall.

The Taiwanese news site DigiTimes has spoken out again. This time, the platform claims to have learned more details about the upcoming iPad Pro. According to the report, Apple will present the device in the fall - contrary to what many currently believe. The reason lies in the features. DigiTimes claims to have learned that the new iPad Pro series will be equipped with the A14X chip and will use 5G. The device will support mmWave and sub-6GHz. This contradicts some other reports that the device will be released in March without 5G support. This is what the report:

Based on its 5G product roadmaps, Apple is expected to launch new iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads, with sub-6GHz and mmWave specifications in September, which will significantly increase demand for the 5nm A14, the sources said.

According to this, both the iPhone 12 series and the new iPad Pro are expected to be released in September. Although Apple usually introduces new Mac and iPad devices in October, this would not be completely new, as Apple has already presented both on the same evening in the past.

Rumors contradict each other

Nevertheless, DigiTimes' time estimates should be treated with caution. While the Taiwanese news publication was often correct in terms of features, it was not convincing in terms of the date. As already mentioned above, the rumors differ in the iPad Pro area. But the trend is heading towards March. This would also fit Apple's 18-month launch cycle, as the company has updated the iPad Pro series every 18 months since 2015. The same sources claim that the device will be equipped with a new triple camera that will rely on the new Time-of-Flight technology. At the same time, they consider the integration of 5G support to be unlikely. The well-known and accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes in a March performance. (Photo by xMarshall / Bigstockphoto)
