Yesterday it was reported that Apple could equip the first iPad and MacBook models with OLED screens next year. Now further details have been published.

Yesterday, the Taiwanese news site DigiTimes published an article provided, which contains details on Apple's product plans regarding OLED displays. While only a preview was available yesterday, the full article is now available. In recent years, there has been a lot of discussion about Apple's plans regarding display technologies. It is believed that Apple is exploring MiniLED, MicroLED and OLED technologies in its products. Currently, it is expected that the successor to the MacBook Pro 16″, which is due to be released this year, will use a MiniLED screen. Now DigiTimes wants experience that Apple plans to equip iPad and MacBook models with OLED panels in the future. So far, these screens are only used in Apple Watch and iPhone devices. The report says that Apple will use an OLED panel for an upcoming iPad model with a 10.9-inch display. The new iPad is expected to go into production at the end of this year and be released in early 2022.

MiniLED, MicroLED & OLED: DigiTimes explains contradictory reports

It is now suspected that the model in question belongs to the iPad Pro series. According to Digitimes, Apple is considering using OLED screens for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro in the future. As for the conflicting reports about Apple's interest in MiniLED and MicroLED as well as OLED, Digitimes explains that Apple is interested in all screen technologies and will use different types of screens in different products. But MicroLED could ultimately prevail, although this technology will still need many years to become suitable for mass use. As a reminder: Apple is currently suspected of introducing 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that use MiniLED technology later this year. In addition, the devices are expected to have a new housing and significantly more ports. Rumor has it that the ports include MagSafe, HDMI and an SD card slot. The devices will be equipped with an in-house ARM chip and will offer a significantly better picture thanks to MiniLED. (Photo by leungchopan / Bigstockphoto)
