The announcement of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 is imminent and with it comes exciting new developments and improvements. One promising change concerns the AirPlay feature, which should enable easier collaboration with hotel TVs.

With WWDC 2023 coming ever closer, Apple is getting rumoured to be buzzing. The upcoming changes in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 in particular are causing a stir. One particularly interesting new feature is the improvement to AirPlay, which will make it easier for users to stream content to TVs and speakers that they don't own. This could not only affect the sharing of content in other households, but could also be beneficial in hotels.

What can we expect in iOS 17? AirPlay upgrades and more

According to Mark Gurman, writing in his “Power On” newsletter for Bloomberg Information on reveals, the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates will include changes to the AirPlay feature. These changes will allow users to stream content to TVs and speakers that do not belong to them. This feature could facilitate streaming in other homes as well as hotels. Another interesting feature Gurman mentions is a Smart Display-like interface that is activated when the iPhone is locked and in landscape mode. This interface will display calendar appointments, notifications, and other details and has been circulating in previous rumors. Additionally, there is speculation about a journaling app that supports location services. This app will allow users to take notes, keep friends updated on activities, and record their mood and feelings.

Sideloading, SharePlay and Accessibility

The Wallet app is also expected to be updated to accommodate Apple's expansion plans in financial services. SharePlay will also be improved, presumably in preparation for the Apple headset, but details are not yet known. The Health app could also include mood tracking and vision management, and will be available on the iPad for the first time. Apple has already confirmed some accessibility changes in iOS 17. One of these is Personal Voice, which allows users to create a version of their own voice for text-to-speech purposes. The lock screen is also expected to offer more personalization options and a simplified interface for Apple Music. There are also signs that iOS 17 will include the basics for sideloading as Apple prepares for changes in EU legislation in 2024. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
