Apple plans to unveil its smart home hub on Tuesday, but it won't be available for purchase for another month. A new report reveals the chip, colors, and a name that appeared in a trademark application a few days ago. For users in this country, however, the most important aspect lies in its usability.
The smart home hub, previously known as the HomePad, will reportedly be called HomeView. Mark Gurman reported this in his Bloomberg newsletter, Power On, on October 11th. Apple plans to unveil the device at its "Welcome Home" event on October 13th, with current estimates suggesting it will be available by mid-November.
The name matches a trademark application for "HomeView" filed by a previously unknown company. Gurman is considered one of the best-informed reporters on Apple's product plans; he had predicted the event date at the end of September before Apple confirmed it.
Key Facts at a Glance
- The smart home hub will be called HomeView and will be available in stores in mid-November, just over a month after its presentation on October 13th.
- The device is supposed to contain an A18 chip.
- The model with speaker stand will be available in space grey, silver, polar star and pink, while the wall-mounted version will only be available in space grey and silver.
- Operation is primarily via voice control, supplemented by the touchscreen. There will be no dedicated app store.
First the presentation, then a month's waiting time
According to the report, there will be about a month between the event on October 13th and delivery. The Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, on the other hand, are expected to arrive on October 30th. The HomePod is therefore the last of the three devices to hit the market.
Gurman himself narrows down the date: mid-November is the current target. A year ago, a start in spring 2026 was still expected.
Two designs, six color variations
The tabletop model stands on a metal speaker base and will be available in four colors. The wall-mounted version will have a flat, square base and will only be available in two colors.
| Design | Colors according to the report |
|---|---|
| Table model with speaker stand | Space Grey, Silver, Polaris, Pink |
| Wall model with flat base | Space Grey, Silver |
The four colors of the table model match a leak from October 1st, which mentioned the same shades from the software. In that leak, the rose shade was called Rose Pink, while in the current report it's simply Pink.
A18 and better sound than the HomePod mini
The report cites the A18 chip as the processor. Previously leaked Apple code for a new Home accessory revealed the same processor. According to Gurman, the desktop model will offer superior sound quality compared to the new HomePod mini.
HomeView is primarily operated via voice, with Siri AI as the central control. The screen also responds to touch. Instead of an app store, a limited selection of Apple apps runs.
A speech device without German language
Two independent sources confirm the same four colors and the same chip is identified in both the code and the report: HomeView's hardware is thus as well-documented as can be before a product launch. However, for German-speaking buyers, the decision to purchase hinges on the software.
A device that relies primarily on voice control stands or falls on its voice assistant. Siri AI doesn't currently support German, and it's not among the five languages added with iOS 27.2 either. I believe this is the real obstacle in this country, not price or delivery date.
Would you buy a smart home hub that you can't control in German right now – or will you wait until Siri AI speaks your language? Let us know your prediction in the comments.
