Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 17 series in two months. A new hands-on video is already attracting attention. It shows a mock-up of the iPhone 17 Air with a particularly slim design and in black. The video provides a first glimpse of the potential design of this new iPhone model.

In recent weeks, well-known leaker Majin Bu has published several images and videos of dummy models that are said to be part of the upcoming iPhone 17 series. So far, the larger and significantly thicker iPhone 17 Pro Max has been the main focus. Now, we have our first look at the iPhone 17 Air – and it differs significantly from previous models. Particularly striking is the extremely thin casing and the redesigned camera design.

Ultra-thin case immediately catches the eye

Compared to previous iPhones, the iPhone 17 Air appears significantly slimmer. The dummy model showcases a particularly thin chassis, which differs significantly from the bulky construction of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Air could thus be the thinnest iPhone in years. The casing appears compact and minimalist – a contrast to the current design language of the Pro models.

Single camera with wide camera bar

The camera setup is also different. Instead of multiple lenses, the iPhone 17 Air features a single rear camera. This is integrated horizontally in a camera bar across the entire width of the back. Apple is likely going its own way with this model. Whether the camera will be capable despite its simple configuration is currently unknown, as it's only a dummy model.

Elegant black as a color variant in focus

The model shown in the video is completely black. The color looks sleek and professional. Combined with the slim design, it creates a minimalist overall impression. According to Majin Bu, there could be other color variants. For example, a light blue shade called "Sky Blue" is being discussed, which could possibly be used on the new M4 MacBook Air.

Contrast to the iPhone 17 Pro Max

Majin Bu had previously shown a dummy model of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It appears significantly thicker and heavier in comparison. The iPhone 17 Air is the exact opposite. Both models could therefore appeal to different target groups – one with maximum features, the other with the lightest and most compact design possible.

iPhone 17 Air focuses on minimalism

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be one of the most interesting models of the next iPhone generation. It's significantly thinner than previous iPhones, features a single camera, and features a simple, flat design. While the hands-on video doesn't yet provide any technical details, it clearly shows where Apple might be heading with this model's design. Official information is expected at the launch in the fall.
