Now that Apple has introduced the AirPods 3, the AirPods Pro 2 are moving into the focus of the rumor mill. According to various sources, these are due to be released next year. Now questionable images have surfaced that are said to show, among other things, the revised case.
Bloomberg previously reported that the second-generation AirPods Pro will feature a more "compact" design, likely removing the stem that currently protrudes from the bottom of the AirPods Pro entirely. However, the report noted that Apple would find it difficult to remove the stem from the AirPods Pro while retaining features like noise cancellation and transparency mode, claiming it would be no easy feat. Now, US blog MacRumors claims to have received images from an anonymous source that purportedly show the AirPods Pro 2. If the images are authentic, Apple appears to have abandoned the idea of redesigning the earbuds and shifted its focus to the case.
AirPods Pro 2: New case could be more “Find My” friendly
The images show the AirPods Pro with an identical design to the current model, except for a "missing optical sensor on the bottom of each earbud." However, this could be because Apple has switched to a new skin-detection sensor, which we already saw on the AirPods 3. have seen. But let's move on to the charging case. One of the images shows that the case has speaker holes, which are supposedly intended for deeper integration with Find My and allow users to play a sound to locate the case.
In addition, a possibility to attach a bracelet has been integrated into the case side, according to the source opposite MacRumors.
