However, these devices all ran on Intel processors. Now, everything points to an entry-level "MacBook" with Apple's own silicon being introduced for the first time. DigiTimes assumes that higher prices are difficult to avoid. The reason given is rising component costs, specifically exploding prices for DRAM and NAND memory chips.

Early estimates suggested a starting price of $599 for the new MacBook in the US. However, according to the report, it's quite possible that the starting price will instead be $699 or even $799.
