Apple has announced a "special experience" for March 4th at 9:00 AM ET (3:00 PM CET). Members of the press have been invited to New York, London, and Shanghai. This international scope alone demonstrates that this is not a small, casual announcement.
It remains unclear, however, what this "special experience" will actually look like. A traditional keynote with a live stream seems rather unlikely at this point. Instead, there are increasing indications that Apple might take a different approach.
Speculation: Several days of press releases
John Gruber introduced a specific theory on Daring Fireball. He noted that March 4th falls on a Wednesday, leading to speculation that Apple might unveil the new products gradually over several days via press releases in its newsroom. One possible scenario:
- Monday: Presentation of the iPhone 17e
- Tuesday: New iPads
- Wednesday: New MacBooks
- Then: An „experience“ with personal demonstrations.
Following this logic, the announcements would be released over several days. The real "special experience" would then not be a classic stage event, but a hands-on event for invited media representatives. There, all the new products could be tested without Apple having to produce a full keynote video.
Shortly after this speculation was published, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg commented on social media. He explained that Gruber's assessment exactly matched his expectations based on his own information. According to Gurman, there will be no "real keynote.".
This paints a clear picture: No traditional live stream that can be watched from home. No elaborately staged event with a stage and audience.
However, it is entirely possible that Apple will release individual, standalone videos for specific products. These would then be released separately and not be part of a cohesive keynote.
These Apple products could be released in early March
Rumors surrounding potential new products are rife. If the information proves true, Apple could update several product categories simultaneously during the week of March 2nd.
iPhone 17e
A new iPhone 17e is considered likely. It is expected to be positioned as a more affordable model within the iPhone 17 series, thus representing a more attractive price option.
Affordable MacBook with A18 Pro chip
