Apple TV+'s science fiction series Severance is getting a third season. Apple officially announced this – directly following the second season finale, which was released on the same day. This is important news for fans, as after the long wait between seasons 1 and 2, it was unclear what would happen next. Now it's confirmed: Severance will continue.

Since its premiere in February 2022, Severance has captivated audiences with its innovative concept. The series radically separates the professional and private lives of the employees at Lumon Industries. This not only creates a gripping narrative but also encourages reflections on identity and control. The first season ended with a major cliffhanger that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Even though the second season didn't arrive until almost three years after the first—due to production delays and strikes in 2023—Severance has firmly established itself as one of the most popular series on Apple TV+. Now it continues with season 3.

Severance dominates Apple TV+ – Season 3 confirmed

Apple TV+ has officially confirmed the third season of Severance. The announcement came directly after the finale of the second season. Both executive producer and director Ben Stiller and Apple CEO Tim Cook, who supported the launch of the new season on Twitter, participated. The scripts for the upcoming season have been in development for some time. Ben Stiller has promised that there won't be another three-year wait this time, even though filming hasn't begun yet. The second season of Severance captivated audiences with its surprising twists and intense suspense. Apple TV+ has also announced that Severance is now the most popular series on the platform, even surpassing Ted Lasso (via X).

Between hype and pause: When does season 3 start?

Critics are praising the second season and pointing to a possible nomination for next season's Emmys. Despite production delays—including the actors' and writers' strikes in 2023—interest in the series remains undiminished. The third season will seamlessly pick up from the events of the season 2 finale and further reveal the secrets surrounding Lumon Industries. Although the exact premiere date has not yet been determined, it is expected that the new season will not be released until late 2026 at the earliest, possibly even as late as 2027. All details surrounding Severance and upcoming developments will be announced in the coming months.

Severance demonstrates that it offers far more than just entertainment. The series explores questions of identity and the boundaries between work and personal life. The official renewal for Season 3 confirms its success and the continued interest of fans. Even if you still have to be patient, the wait is worth it. Keep an eye on the official channels to ensure you don't miss any news. Severance remains an exciting and thought-provoking series experience that will continue to captivate you. (Image: Apple)
