The new Apple Podcasts subscription service was originally supposed to launch at the end of May. However, due to various problems, the whole thing was postponed. Now there is a new launch date.
Support for podcast subscriptions was introduced with the iOS 14.6 update. But at the end of May, after the update was released, explained Apple said the launch of the feature would be delayed until June to ensure the "best experience" was provided for creators and listeners. The new service is now set to launch on June 15. Apple confirmed this in a circular email to registered podcasters, as reported by The Verge reported.
Apple makes improvements in iOS 14.6
Podcast subscriptions were first announced at Apple's April event and will allow podcast creators to offer paid subscription options with access to exclusive content, ad-free listening, and other perks. Apple likely delayed the subscription feature because users of the podcast app were unhappy with the changes implemented in the iOS 14.5 update. There were complaints about the app's usability, among other things, which Apple partially improved in iOS 14.6.
