Apple today announced in a press release that Phil Schiller will take on a new role as Apple Fellow. Schiller has long served as Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. That role will now be taken over by Greg Joswiak.
Apple veteran Phil Schiller has now taken on a new role in Cupertino. CEO Cook commented on this as follows:
Phil has helped shape Apple into the company it is today, and his contributions are broad, extensive, and deep. In this new role, he will continue to provide the incredible thought partnership and leadership that characterized his decades at Apple.
Regarding Schiller’s successor – Greg Joswiak – Tim Cook stated:
Joz's many years of leadership experience in the product marketing organization make him a perfect fit for this new role and will ensure a seamless transition at a time when the team is engaged in such important and exciting work. I am thrilled that the entire leadership team will benefit from his collaboration, ideas and energy.
What is an Apple Fellow?
Of course, Schiller also commented on the new title and explained that this was the first step in making changes in his life. The statement reads:
It's been a dream come true for me to work at Apple, on so many products I love, with all these great friends - Steve, Tim and so many others. I started at Apple when I was 27, I turned 60 this year and it's time for some planned changes in my life. I'll work here as long as they want me to, I bleed six colors but I also want to make some time in the coming years for my family, friends and some personal projects that are very close to my heart.
An Apple Fellow is an individual recognized by Apple Inc. for outstanding technical contributions or leadership in the field of personal computing while with the company.
