The rumor mill had already predicted it and now it's official. Apple announced a new MacBook Pro 13" today via press release.

After the large MacBook Pro 16" was updated in November 2019, followed by the MacBook Air in March 2020, it is now the turn of the smaller MacBook Pro. The device also appears with a revised keyboard based on the scissor technology. This is said to be significantly more reliable than the butterfly keyboard. The arrangement of the touch bar is the same as that of the MacBook Pro 16". The display remains at 13" - Rumors had previously promised 14", but this did not happen. Unlike the screen, the reports about the performance have come true. This has been doubled in the course of the update. This means that the MacBook Pro 13" can be equipped with up to 32 GB of RAM. There is also an SSD hard drive that can offer up to 4 TB. The maximum configuration includes a quad-core Intel i7 processor of the 10th generation, which clocks at 2.3 GHz and allows a turbo boost of up to 4.1 GHz. While the high-end version of the new MacBook Pro 13" costs around 4,379 euros, the starting price is a total of 1,499 euros. In the press release Tom Boger, Senior Director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing at Apple, describes the device as follows:

Delivery will take place soon

Whether you're a student, developer, or creative professional, the 13-inch MacBook Pro delivers high performance, a stunning Retina display, and all-day battery life in our most portable professional notebook. Today we're adding the new Magic Keyboard, doubling the standard storage, and boosting performance, making the 13-inch MacBook Pro an even better value for our customers. With these updates, our entire notebook lineup features the Magic Keyboard for the best typing experience ever on a Mac notebook, offers twice the storage than before, and delivers even more performance.

According to Apple, deliveries will begin between May 13 and 15, with the cheaper models, which will be equipped with an 8th generation Intel processor, being shipped by Apple starting May 7. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
