The sportswear manufacturer Nike recently introduced new sneakers – they are called Nike Adapt BB and provide more comfort.
Tying shoelaces can sometimes be annoying - Nike has a solution. The shoe that laces itself. Using an app, the wearer of the Nike Adapt BB can easily control the lacing process - or the shoe does it automatically. According to the manufacturer, this should be faster than by hand. This is made possible by motors built into the shoe that are powered by batteries and controlled via Bluetooth.
The Shoe of the Future
The sneakers are delivered without traditional laces. These have been replaced by special straps inside and can be adjusted using the new hardware. When the lacing process is started, the straps contract - as soon as resistance is detected, the process stops. According to Nike, the performance shoe includes the Power Lacing System. This consists of, among other things, a battery with a matching display, a gyroscope and an accelerometer.
A Bluetooth module with a computer is also installed. The shoe can be opened and closed automatically using a button on the side or using the smartphone app. The wearer can also regulate the lighting of the shoe. Thanks to different LED colors, several variations of the color play can be saved via the app.
Prices and availability
The Nike Adapt BB will be available in US sizes 8 - 15.5 for men and 8 - 14 for women. The new sneakers can be pre-ordered now and will be available from mid-February for around 350 US dollars. We do not yet know the Euro prices.
