Apple released the Golden Master version of macOS 10.15 Catalina this evening.
Apple has released around ten beta builds of macOS Catalina in the last three months – now the Golden Master version has been rolled out. The Golden Master version of macOS Catalina is the final version of the new operating system, which will soon be made available to all users free of charge. With Catalina, the Mac is experiencing some fundamental changes. iTunes is finally being buried. What was previously found in iTunes will be independent with the new operating system. Music, podcasts, films and series will each have their own application. These Macs are compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina
All Mac devices introduced in mid-2012 or later are compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. This means that the following models can update and install the new macOS 10.15:
- MacBook 12″
- MacBook Air, 2012 or newer
- MacBook Pro, 2012 or newer
- Mac mini, 2012 or later
- iMac, 2012 or newer
- Mac Pro 2013 or later
- iMac Pro
In this sense, almost all Macs that were able to update to Mojave are also compatible with Catalina. It is not yet known when Apple will roll out the new Mac operating system to all users – a leak on the company's own website gives hope for tomorrow, October 4th.
