As announced, the repair specialists at iFixit have now completely disassembled the Mac Pro 2019 and describe the new Apple product as a “masterclass in repairability” due to its modular components.

On Friday, iFixit showed the unboxing of the new Mac Pro via livestream and took a first look inside. Cheese was also used – see hereA complete teardown has now been submitted. Removing the casing is no problem thanks to the simple twist-and-grip technique. Due to the fact that the Mac Pro is modular, iFixit describes the device as a "masterclass in repairability". However, there is one point of criticism - namely the T2 chip. During the investigation, iFixit quickly determined that the built-in SSD is connected to the T2 security chip. This makes it impossible for the user to replace the hard drive themselves. Going to Apple or an authorized service partner is therefore unavoidable.

The new Mac Pro is a Fixmas marvel: beautiful, amazingly well put together, and a masterclass in repairability. We love that a large portion of the modules can be replaced without tools; we love the use of (mostly) standard screws and connectors; we love the on-board instructions and diagrams for certain repairs; and, most of all, the free public repair guides and videos.

According to iFixit, the new Mac Pro 2019 is the most repair-friendly Apple device. The experts therefore give it nine out of ten points in terms of repairability. The new super computer can be purchased from Apple starting at 6,499 euros. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
