While on the one hand news about Apple in relation to the coronavirus currently dominates the iWelt, on the other hand, thanks to iOS 14, more and more leaks about new features are emerging.

As already mentioned in the last two articles, the US blog 9to5mac received an early preview of iOS 14. In it, new Apple Watch functions and hints of new over-ear headphones could be discovered. But that's not all. In a new post, further features relating to watchOS 7 and possibly the Apple Watch 6 are revealed. According to this, iOS 14 reveals new Apple Watch watch faces, sleep monitoring and a special "Parental Control" function for the Apple Watch.

Sharing watch faces under watchOS 7

According to the iOS 14 code, there will be at least three changes in this area. The post states that there are references to a sharing option. According to this, users under watchOS 7 will be able to swap their own configured watch faces with each other. This should be possible via the Apple Watch application for iOS. However, it is not known whether the whole thing can also be done directly from Apple Watch to Apple Watch. According to the iOS 14 code, the watch face should be saved in the form of a file in the iCloud when it is shared. It will be possible to send it using various methods - including AirDrop.

Apple Watch – “Infograph Pro”

It is still unclear whether watchOS 7 will also support third-party watch faces - a feature that has long been desired. The well-known Infograph watch face, which is available in two versions, is to be added to watchOS 7. According to iOS 14, the new version is called "Infograph Pro" and includes a tachymeter. A tachymeter is an analog clock that is positioned around the actual watch face and enables the measurement of speed and distance based on travel time. In addition to the tachymeter, other elements can be added to the "Infograph Pro" watch face, including school time, child mode, sleep mode and more.

watchOS 7 expands photo-based watch faces

iOS 14 also brings another change in the area of watch faces. As is well known, users can use any photo as a watch face. The new option should make it possible to insert such an image not only from the local album but also from a shared album. This means that watchOS 7 grants access to photo albums shared in iCloud.

The Apple Watch for children with "Parental Control" function

The iOS 14 preview also reveals Apple's work on a special control mode for parents. Under watchOS 7, children's Apple Watch devices can be set up and managed via a parent's iPhone. Currently, multiple Apple Watch watches can be paired with the same Apple ID to an iPhone, but only one device can be actively used. This is supposed to be a kind of extension of the communication limit function and general screen time. But that's not all - another feature is called "Schooltime". Parents can use it to specify which apps and complications their children can access during school hours.

The Apple Watch and the long-awaited sleep monitoring

Apple's work on a new sleep monitoring was already revealed in autumn 2019. This year it could be ready. iOS 14 also contains corresponding hints that suggest such an app. Basically, the feature is not new, as it has already been leaked - but it remains unknown whether the function will also be introduced on older devices.
