In the past, Apple devices were required to use Apple's own services. The iCompany has changed its policy for some time now.
Samsung announced a new cooperation with Apple at the CES technology trade fair in Las Vegas. iTunes will be available on Samsung TVs. Apple's AirPlay 2 will enable direct streaming from Apple devices to Samsung TVs. In the past, this was only possible using the Apple TV. Market observers see this step as part of a change in strategy. The iGroup has already made Apple Music available on Android devices - Apple's music service has also recently been available on Amazon's Echo speakers - but initially only in the USA. Apple wants to generate more revenue with its own services. Previously, Apple devices were the prerequisite for this. Now Cupertino seems to want to relax this policy and make implementation less dependent on its own device sales.
It remains to be seen whether Apple TV sales will suffer as a result.
Large 4K film selection
Samsung should also benefit greatly from this deal. The selection of 4K films in iTunes is large, but the offerings on TV sets are limited. The service will be released in the spring via a software update. The feature will also be available on TV sets from 2018 - according to Samsung.
