Frankfurt, Germany - December 05th 2020: A German photographer bought the new iPhone 12 Pro Max with MagSafe accessories, taking pictures of the test of the new charging system.

Earlier this year, Apple surveyed some users about how they use the power adapter that used to be included in the iPhone box. This was removed during the iPhone 12 launch. Now the next survey is making the rounds.

Apple has launched a new survey to find out if iPhone users are unhappy with Face ID and whether they use the USB-C to Lightning cable that comes with every iPhone that reported 9to5mac. Interestingly, the survey seems to be specifically aimed at iPhone 12 users.

Survey: "I prefer Touch ID"

One of the questions asked in the survey is whether the user is happy with Face ID - and if the answer is no, there are some alternatives to sharing details with Apple. The following answers are listed:

  • security or privacy concerns
  • I don't like having to pick up the phone to use Face ID
  • Slow performance
  • It does not recognize my face in all situations (such as low light, different angles, lying down, wearing sunglasses)
  • I prefer Touch ID
  • Not reliable; does not always unlock the iPhone
  • Other
  • Not sure

In addition to Face ID, the use of the included USB-C to Lightning cable is also being questioned. The question was formulated in the same way as with the power adapter. The company wants to know whether users use the cable or use an existing one.

iPhone 12S / iPhone 13: Will MagSafe become the standard?

In recent months, there have been repeated rumors that Apple could introduce a smartphone with Face ID and Touch ID together in the next two years. The survey fuels speculation. Although Face ID is an amazing technology, it does have some limitations. This is where Touch ID clearly scores points. At the same time, the survey suggests that Apple is considering eliminating the charging cable. Anyone who was already upset about the missing power adapter will certainly not be happy about this news. However, there have also been rumors that the charging socket will be removed completely. Is MagSafe the future? So there is a possibility that Apple will introduce the iPhone 12S or iPhone 13 with even fewer accessories and two biometric authentication methods. At the same time, MagSafe could become the standard. Let's wait and see - 2021 should definitely be exciting. (Photo by ms_pics_and_more / Bigstockphoto)
