Since December 8th, developers have been required to provide a privacy label for their apps. Apple has now assured that this applies not only to third-party providers but also to its own applications.

The new App Store labels are designed to give consumers a better overview of an app's privacy practices. The new privacy resource describes several important categories to consider, such as data types, data usage, data linked to users, tracking, links to privacy, and how to answer questions about app privacy. After WhatsApp complained about this and criticized Apple in connection with iMessage, there is now interesting news from Cupertino. Apple has responded to WhatsApp's criticism and assured that the new requirement will apply equally to all iOS apps, including its own.

App privacy: Apple responds to criticism from Facebook subsidiary

This means that all Apple applications that are available through the store or are already pre-installed will also be labelled. Since pre-installed apps do not have a product page in the App Store, the labels will be provided on Apple's website. According to the company, the information will be provided in the same way as for third-party applications - without exception. These Clarification is provided in response on WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook and accuses Apple of applying double standards when it comes to privacy labels. The Facebook subsidiary stated that the labels could cause users to be concerned about the data collected by WhatsApp, which could put them at a competitive disadvantage compared to Apple's built-in Messages app. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
