Qualcomm has now officially introduced the Snapdragon X60. This is a third-generation 5G modem that would work particularly well with an iPhone.
Qualcomm has introduced the new Snapdragon X60 in a press release. The new third-generation 5G modem is expected to be included in the first 5G smartphones as early as early 2021. This is stated in the official press release:

The world's first 5G solution, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 Modem-RF System, helped global networks launch 5G services using the mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum. Our second-generation solution, the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System, helped accelerate 5G adoption and expansion, while also supporting key features such as 5G Standalone (SA) mode, 5G FDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing.
iPhone 2021 could rely on this
The X60 modem is based on a 5nm manufacturing process and offers significantly better energy efficiency in a smaller overall area than its predecessor (7nm manufacturing process). If the new 5G modem is found in the iPhone 2021 series, this would lead to a longer battery life. In addition, the use of the new Snapdragon X60 would create more space inside the device. Apple could use this for additional components or a larger battery. According to Qualcomm, smartphones that use the X60 will be able to use both the mmWave and sub-6GHz bands simultaneously.
