The new iPhone 13 models, the iPad 9 and the iPad mini 6 are officially available as of today. However, the new devices have a problem that can occur when restoring a backup, as Apple itself has now confirmed.

According to two support documents, owners of the new iPhone 13, ninth-generation iPad, and sixth-generation iPad mini may experience minor inconveniences during the setup process. Both issues relate to restoring the new devices from a backup. In the first document, Apple warns that users may not be able to access their Apple Music library and Apple Music settings or enable the app's "Sync Library" feature after setting up a new device from a backup.

Backup problems: Software update should help

The issue occurs on all new iPhone 13 models, the new entry-level iPad, and the iPad mini. Apple says a software update should fix the issue and re-enable the lost Apple Music features. Users can perform the update by navigating to Settings -> General and tapping "Software Update." A second Problem causes widgets to be reset to their default settings after they have been restored from a backup. Here too, the error affects new iPhone 13, iPad 9 and iPad mini 6 models. There seems to be no solution for the reset bug, meaning users have to readjust their widgets, according to Apple. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
