The discovery aligns with previous statements by Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. When iOS 18 was unveiled in June 2024, Federighi stated that support for Google Gemini was being considered in the future. However, so far, ChatGPT has remained the only external AI service option.

What the new integrations could mean

If the code changes prove to be true, Apple could soon offer a system that supports multiple AI services in parallel. Users could then choose between different models, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, depending on their preferences.
