With iOS 18.4, Apple is introducing new features for the Control Center that better integrate Apple Intelligence into the system. Users can now directly access certain AI-powered functions without having to navigate through Siri or other menus. The changes mainly affect the control of Siri and the use of visual intelligence.

With iOS 18.4, Apple is focusing on an even deeper integration of artificial intelligence into the iPhone interface. The introduction of new control center buttons is intended to make access to smart functions easier and operation more efficient. Particularly interesting is the change in visual intelligence, which can now be activated directly via the control center for the first time. The changes affect both Siri and other intelligent functions of the iPhone. With this update, Apple is shifting the focus of operation by bringing AI features closer to the user.

New Apple Intelligence features in the Control Center

With iOS 18.4, there are several changes in the Control Center that relate to Apple Intelligence. The most important new features are:

Direct control of Siri

A dedicated button for Siri has been added. This allows the voice assistant to be activated more quickly without having to use the usual voice control or another button. In addition, the "Type Siri Requests" function, which allows users to control Siri by entering text instead of voice input, has been moved to the new "Apple Intelligence" area. It can no longer be found directly in the Siri menu.

Enable Visual Intelligence directly from the Control Center

Previously, the Visual Intelligence feature could only be activated by a long press on the camera control button. With iOS 18.4, this will be easier. There is now a special button in the Control Center that can be used to directly access the feature. Another way to activate it has also been introduced on the iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro. Users can configure the device's action button to trigger the visual intelligence.

Which iPhones support the new features?

The Apple Intelligence features that come to the Control Center with iOS 18.4 are not available on all iPhones. They are only available for models that support Apple Intelligence. These include:

  • iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • All models of the iPhone 16 series

With the update, the iPhone 15 Pro gets access to Visual Intelligence for the first time, while the iPhone 16 models get additional control options via the Control Center.

New options for the action key

iOS 18.4 also expands the action button for Apple Intelligence. Owners of an iPhone 15 Pro or an iPhone 16 can now configure the action button to call up visual intelligence directly. This innovation offers an even faster way to use AI-powered image analysis or other visual functions without having to open the Control Center.

iOS 18.4 Beta 2 optimizes the operation of Apple Intelligence

The update to iOS 18.4 brings important improvements for the use of Apple Intelligence. The new quick access options in the control center enable easier operation and faster interaction with Siri and Visual Intelligence. Users of an iPhone 15 Pro or an iPhone 16 model in particular benefit from the new features. The integration of the Apple Intelligence functions in the control center shows that Apple wants to integrate the use of artificial intelligence even more directly into iPhone operation.
