With the release of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 imminent, beta testing is nearing completion. Apple recently released the sixth beta version and is now focusing on final touches before the final version hits the market.

As beta testing progresses, Apple is now sticking to its weekly update strategy. Although the updates are getting smaller, they are still significant. Let's take a look at some of the new features and improvements introduced in iOS 17 beta 6.

What's new in iOS 17 Beta 6

  • Messages app: Long-pressing the "+" button in the Messages app now opens the photo picker, instead of tapping the button and selecting the Photos option from the list. A convenient change that makes it easier to use.
  • Phone app: In previous beta versions, Apple had moved the red button for ending a call, but this was not well received. Now, in Beta 6, Apple has moved this button back to the center of the interface to improve usability.
  • Mood Detection: Apple has further improved the animations for the moods in Mood Detection. The rings around each mood now move faster around each shape and there are more rings.
  • Photos home screen: When you open the Photos app, you'll now see a new welcome screen that informs you about the latest features. A helpful addition to help you use the app's full potential.
  • Display & Brightness: The Display & Brightness section in Settings now shows an iOS 17 wallpaper icon, emphasizing visual consistency.

Conclusion

With iOS 17 Beta 6 we are getting closer to the final release. Apple is doing everything it can to optimize the user experience and is making practical changes that make using the apps more pleasant. While we look forward to the imminent release of iOS 17, the beta phase shows us how Apple is continuously working to improve its products and respond to the needs of users. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
