With the third betas of iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, Apple has added support for iCloud Shared Photo Library, a new feature that was not included in the first betas.

The iCloud Shared Photo Library is designed to make it easier for you to share photos with your family members. After you have iOS 16, iPadOS 16 or macOS Ventura installed , you can set it up in the Settings app. Under Photos, scroll down to Shared Library and tap it. From there, tap Configure to add participants you want to share it with. You can invite up to five other people, and all participants can add, edit, or delete content in the shared library.

By the way, you can add any five people, even those you don't have Family Sharing set up with yet. After you choose the people you want to share with, you can move your photos to the shared library. You can move all your photos and videos, photos that feature specific people, photos from a specific date, or you can select the images manually. Once you've added your photos, you can preview the library before it's shared. Then, participants are officially invited via the Messages app or a shared link. All participants have access to any photos uploaded to the shared library.

To prevent photos from being accidentally shared, there are smart setup rules that can be implemented. You can choose to share all photos from the past or only photos from a specific start date. You can also choose to only share photos from certain people, such as your family members. Photos can be automatically added to the shared library, but there are also options to share based on Bluetooth proximity. Sharing suggestions will also still appear in For You. A new switch in the Camera app lets you automatically upload any photos you take to the shared library, so if you're on vacation with your family, everyone can see your vacation photos as soon as you take them. Shared photos appear in Memories, Featured Photos, and the Photos widget, much like standard iCloud Library images. (Image: Apple)
