Apple has now made the fifth beta of iOS 16 and Co. available to developers. Among the new features is a feature that was removed with the introduction of the iPhone X five years ago - the battery percentage display.

With the Publication With iOS 16 Beta 5, the battery percentage indicator is finally back in the status bar. This fulfills one of the most common iOS wishes since Apple removed the icon with the release of the iPhone X. In iOS 16 Beta 5, you can add the battery percentage indicator back to the status bar. Simply go to Settings, select "Battery" and turn on the new "Battery Percentage" option. From now on, as soon as you unplug your iPhone from the power, you will see the normal battery symbol with the percentage in it.

After five years: The battery percentage display returns in iOS

The battery level indicator is available on the iPhone 12 and 13 models, except for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. It is also available on the iPhone X and XS but not on the iPhone 11 or iPhone XR. When your iPhone is in power saving mode, the battery icon turns yellow but still shows the percentage. When you're charging the battery, you'll see the percentage with a small charging icon next to it. Until the release of the iPhone X, the battery percentage indicator was a permanent part of the status bar. With the introduction of the notch and the limited space for data in the status bar, Apple dropped the percentage indicator. Instead, you had to swipe down to the Control Center to see the percentage. (Photo by yalcin.sonat / Bigstockphoto)
