Apple released the fourth beta version of iOS 15.4 and Co. for developers on Tuesday evening. As promised by the company, today's beta version adds anti-stalking alerts for AirTags and other Find My accessories.
After several privacy concerns were raised, especially around AirTags, as some people have used the accessory to stalk and track other people without their consent, Apple has promised to add new security warnings in a future iOS update. How now 9to5Mac reported, corresponding changes were made in the fourth version of iOS 15.4. For example, users now see a new message when setting up an AirTag, making it clear that the accessory is linked to their Apple ID, which contains their personal information.
iOS 15.4: AirTag users receive clear warning
The message states that using AirTags to track people without consent "is a crime in many areas of the world" and that stalking victims can prompt law enforcement to request information about the AirTag owner. The Find My app in the latest iOS 15.4 beta also includes new notification settings that allow users to change certain Find My and tracking options separately.
