HomeKit and Apple TV under iOS 14
According to a new report, Apple will significantly improve HomeKit and make smart lights even smarter. There will also be new facial recognition for the camera and an improved audio connection for the Apple TV. The report states 9to5mac Report:
Smart lighting is one of the first categories in Apple's smart home framework. HomeKit has long included the ability to control light brightness, color, and temperature, as well as scheduling through automations and scenes. New in iOS 14 for HomeKit will be the ability to automatically adjust light color temperature throughout the day. During the day, cooler light temperatures are preferred to match lighting from outdoor sunlight, while at night, warmer color temperatures are preferred.
The Apple TV and HomePod
The HomeKit Secure Video feature introduced in iOS 13 is set to be improved in iOS 14. Compatible cameras will be able to identify people based on their appearance. It is expected that individual notifications will be sent and access provided depending on the person. The iOS 14 preview also shows that the audio output of the Apple TV can be configured in the future so that, for example, the HomePod is set as the default. Currently, users of both devices have to select the output manually using AirPlay 2.
The home screen under iOS 14
Furthermore, evidence has been discovered that the home screen in iOS 14 will have new options for views. According to this, there will be a new page that displays all app icons of installed applications in a list view. In addition, the new list view will contain several different sorting options and other details. This means that users can, for example, filter applications that contain unread notifications. In addition, apps can also be sorted by frequency of use. The new list view will also contain intelligent suggestions and offer Siri support. The suggestions are made based on the time of day and location.
New gestures in iOS 14
The iOS 14 code has also revealed new gestures. In addition to the system-wide native mouse support, there will also be new gesture functions. These can be applied to both the mouse and a compatible trackpad. The gestures are functions that are already available on Mac devices.
