What features will iOS 14 bring us? This question has been on the minds of some fans for some time. How about a multitasking view for the iPhone? According to a new leak, this should be the case.

Apple will most likely present iOS 14, iPadOS 14, tvOS 14, watchOS 7 and macOS 10.16 at WWDC 2020 (World Wide Developer Conference) in June. It is not yet known what features the new operating systems will bring with them. But a new leak is said to present an iOS 14 function for the iPhone. According to a video, the multitasking view known from the iPad was revealed for the iPhone.

Internal iOS 14 version in video

The well-known concept designer and Apple leaker Ben Geskin has published a video together with the blog 91Mobile that shows a revised version of the multitasking view under iOS 14 on the iPhone. This is said to be an internal iOS 14 build that is running on an iPhone 11 Pro Max - as Geskin explains. In the video, the user switches to the so-called multitasking view (known from iPadOS 13). A total of four apps are displayed at the same time, with more appearing on the screen when the user swipes to the right.

iOS 14 supports swipe lock

In addition to the original video, a slowed down version of the recording was published on Twitter. In this clip, you can see that an app cannot be closed by simply swiping. Only by holding down the respective application does a small lock appear, which opens - a subsequent swipe upwards makes the app disappear. This must therefore be some kind of protection mechanism so that applications are not accidentally closed while users are in multitasking view. However, it is not known whether the new feature also allows a split screen - as 91Mobile explains.

Users should be able to select standard system applications themselves under iOS 14

Overall, very little is known about iOS 14 so far. If you search for information on the Internet, you will hardly find anything useful. But a recently published report promises a particularly remarkable feature. According to it, Apple is considering iOS 14 standard applications This means that users should be able to decide for themselves whether they want to use Safari and Apple Mail as the default app or whether they prefer a third-party solution. This means that users could set another browser, such as Google Chrome, as the default app in the system instead of Safari - the same should also be possible for emails. While further changes or innovations in iOS 14 are still unknown, there is another report that deals with compatibility with older iPhones. You can find more about this below. Below I have linked the slowed-down video for you - if you want to see the normal version, you can find it at 91Mobile. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)
