iOS 14 already had a number of interesting bugs that Apple was able to fix via software updates. But one particularly annoying bug seems to still be there - missing SMS or iMessage notifications.

Since iOS 14, complaints have been documented that some incoming messages via iMessage or SMS are delivered silently. This means that users do not receive any notification. At first, the error only seemed to affect iPhone 12 models. But there are now also reports from users who have noticed the problem on older iPhone devices. They all have one thing in common - they are running iOS 14 or a newer version. During the beta phase of iOS 14.3, it was assumed that Apple had fixed the problem. But the US blog 9to5mac reportsthat this does not seem to be the case. It is also said that under iOS 14.3, some messages arrive without notification. According to the statements, messages seem to be delivered without the Messages app giving any indication. There is also nothing to see on the lock screen.

iOS 14.3: Will Apple fix the problem in time?

In the Apple Support Forum alone, a thread on the topic of iMessage notifications was opened that is over 40 pages long. Further entries can be found in Reddit and other forums. Interestingly, Apple has already fixed part of the problem. From iOS 14.2.1 update description the following can be seen:

  • Some MMS messages could not be received

However, the bug does not only affect MMS messages. Apple will probably release iOS 14.3 to all users on Monday. This means that the company could fix the error shortly before the release. Otherwise, it can be assumed that Apple will provide us with iOS 14.3.1 soon. (Photo by Denys Prykhodov / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
