Apple released the iOS 14.5 Release Candidate version to developers yesterday. The latest build reveals a new feature that Siri will receive.
As 9to5Mac reports, iOS 14.5 will allow headphone users to answer incoming calls with Siri. The blog writes:
As found in the Siri settings in iOS 14.5 RC, users can now answer calls with the virtual assistant without having to press anything. The option is part of the "Announce calls with Siri" feature, which allows users to hear the caller's name when using headphones. In addition to announcing the caller's name, Siri now also understands the commands to answer the call, just as it was already possible with text messages. You no longer have to say "Hey Siri," just "Accept" or "Decline."
iOS 14.5 and Co. will be released next week
For the feature to work, users must enable it in the Settings app under the “Announce Messages” menu item in the “Siri” section.
Let Siri read incoming messages and announce calls. Respond by simply speaking to Siri. To be able to announce messages and calls with Siri, enable the Allow Siri when locked option in Settings.
Currently, Siri can announce messages and let users respond immediately. But while Siri can announce incoming phone calls, users would have to pull out their iPhone or raise their Apple Watch to tap the screen and answer the call. Under iOS 14.5, users will receive support from Siri if they want it. The feature will only work with headphones that support Siri - such as AirPods and Beats.
