Apple today announced the AirPods Max via press releases presented and the launch of Apple Fitness+ announcedThis also includes the launch of iOS 14.3, iPadOS 14.3, macOS Big Sur 11.1, watchOS 7.2 and tvOS 14.3.

Apple has now officially introduced the brand new AirPods Max. According to Apple, the over-ear headphones will be available in over 25 countries from December 15, including Germany. According to the company, these require iOS 14.3, iPadOS 14.3, macOS Big Sur 11.1, watchOS 7.2 and tvOS 14.3. At the same time, the launch of Apple Fitness+ was also announced, which will be on December 14. The new service also requires iOS 14.3, iPadOS 14.3, watchOS 7.2 and tvOS 14.3 in advance. But this will only be available in the United States, Great Britain, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada and Australia - more countries will follow next year. For this reason, it can be assumed that Apple will release the new operating systems worldwide by Tuesday, December 14th at the latest. Of course, there is also the possibility that iOS 14.3 and Co. will appear earlier.

iOS 14.3 – What's new

In iOS 14.3, the ProRAW format has been integrated for the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. In addition, the brand new PlayStation 5 controller called Dual Sense can be paired with the iPhone. Below you will find a list of the new features.

ProRAW support – As previously explained, ProRAW support for the iPhone 12 Pro (Max) has been added in iOS 14.3. Apple's ProRAW feature is a new image format that combines Apple's computational photography features with the benefits of RAW shooting. When shooting in RAW format, users usually lose the benefits of Apple's computational photography features such as Deep Fusion and Smart HDR. With the iPhone 12 Pro, users can shoot in the new Apple ProRAW format, which combines the two - read more here.

Suggestions for third-party apps - In addition to ProRAW support, the update also appears to bring suggested third-party apps. According to 9to5Mac, there is code in iOS 14.3 that indicates that Apple will show third-party app options to those who update to the software. These app suggestions will only be made available in some countries where local law requires it, so users in the United States may not see the third-party app menu. It's not entirely clear which countries will see the app suggestions - though it's believed that Europe will be part of it - more on that here.

Health app – In iOS 14.3, a new section called Pregnancy was added to the Health application.

controller support – Apple has expanded controller support in the new iOS version. From now on, users can connect the DualSense controller, which was released with the PlayStation 5, to the iPhone or iPad. Amazon's Luna controller is also supported under iOS 14.3.

app clips – Circular App Clip QR codes can now be scanned using the Camera app or the QR code scanner in Control Center.

default search engine – Ecosia can be set as the default search engine in iOS 14.3, alternative to Google, Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo. With Ecosia, users can finance the planting of trees when performing searches. (Image: Apple)
