Apple released iOS 13.7 for all users on September 1st and fixed a number of bugs. After just one week, the signing of iOS 13.6.1 has now been officially stopped. When Apple stops signing an iOS version, this means that users are no longer able to upgrade to the previous version via PC or Mac. Like other iOS updates, iOS 13.7 also brings a number of security improvements by fixing various vulnerabilities. Such security gaps make devices vulnerable and also enable jailbreaking. For this reason, Apple is stopping the signing of older iOS versions in a timely manner. While iOS 13.6 and iOS 13.6.1 have some interesting functions in store, including CarKey, iOS 13.7 only offers one important function in the area of motion notifications.

The focus of the update is on expanding the COVID-19 API. According to Apple, the update offers users the option to opt in to COVID-19 notifications (motion alerts) without having to download an app from their local health authority. Apple explains:
