Google Drive users can look forward to a new update for iOS. The app now supports Face ID and Touch ID – but there are limitations.

Support for Face ID or Touch ID has been requested for a long time and now the time has come. Regardless of the global security settings, users can now have the app protected biometrically. For this purpose, a new area called "Privacy Screen" has been added to the settings. If this is activated, the Google Drive app can only be opened in the future if the user has been authenticated using Face ID or Touch ID. Other applications that may have sensitive data have already received a similar functionality. The idea is that the content of such apps remains locked even when the device itself is unlocked.

Anyone who decides to activate the function must go to the “Privacy screen” section in the settings within the Google Drive app. After the feature has been activated, users can decide for themselves when the security mechanism should take effect. There are four options available, including “immediately,” 10 seconds, and one to 10 minutes. The “immediate” setting is selected by default. But the new function does not cover everything. Google warns that “certain” Siri functions, files shared with the file application, photos shared with the photo application, and “other system functions” may not be protected. The update is now available to all users in the App Store available. (Photo by bigtunaonline / Bigstockphoto)

Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
