Apple has now officially unveiled a new feature for Apple Fitness+ via press release. "Time to Walk" is a new walking experience.

Apple has introduced a new Fitness+ feature for Apple Watch called "Time to Walk." The feature offers "an inspiring new audio walking experience on Apple Watch for Fitness+ subscribers." Cupertino aims to encourage users to take regular walks. The feature, leaked earlier this month, is described by Apple as follows: described:

Apple today introduced Time to Walk, an inspiring new audio walking experience on Apple Watch for Fitness+ subscribers, designed to encourage users to walk more often and reap the benefits of one of the healthiest activities. Each original Time to Walk episode invites users to immerse themselves in a walk alongside influential and interesting people as they share thoughtful and meaningful stories, photos and music. Time to Walk can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere with an Apple Watch and AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones.

Apple Fitness+: Four “Time to Walk” episodes at launch

Apple emphasizes that each Time to Walk episode is "inspired by the personal, life-changing moments of each guest" and "shot while walking outdoors or in places that are meaningful to them." At launch, Time to Walk will feature four episodes, with the following cast:

  • Country music star Dolly Parton has won nine GRAMMYs and is also an acclaimed actress, businesswoman, and humanitarian. Dolly reflects on her career, her family, and growing up in rural Tennessee. "I've loved hiking since I was a little girl in the Smoky Mountains," says Parton. "I think it's so important to get out and walk during this time when we can. I think best when I'm walking. And while many of us are feeling cooped up during this time, I hope people will take a walk down memory lane with me, and we can all feel a little more freedom by taking the time to walk together."
  • NBA player Draymond Green won three basketball championships with the Golden State Warriors and helped change the way the game is played. He reflects on the virtues of failure and rejecting criticism. "There's nothing better than taking a walk in nature, getting lost in your thoughts, and taking deep breaths," says Green. "Take all the stress of the day and let it blow away with the wind. I hope that sharing my stories with those who walk with me gives them the same drive to pursue their dreams as I did in pursuing mine."

Shawn Mendes & Uzo Aduba also participate

  • Musician Shawn Mendes went viral on social media at 15, had his first platinum album by 19, and has toured the world. He shares how a slower pace has helped him personally and creatively. "Walking is a great way to clear your mind," says Mendes. "It's the simplest thing you can do to calm, reflect, and slow down your body and mind. I hope people feel the same sense of calm I get from walking and can apply that to their own experiences."
  • Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba rose to fame on the show "Orange Is the New Black," albeit after many rejections. She talks about lifelong relationships and keeping faith. "I love walks, either alone or with my dog," Aduba says. "It's a time to connect with myself and have the conversations that often get overlooked throughout the day, and it brings me peace of mind. The experience of walking and sharing my stories has given me that familiar feeling that walking brings, answering questions that need answering and addressing issues that need addressing. I'm so excited to share that with those who take the time to walk with me."

Time to Walk: Episodes between 25 and 40 minutes long

According to Apple, new "Time to Walk" episodes will appear in the Workout app every Monday until the end of April. All previous episodes will also be available anytime in the Workout app on Apple Watch. Episodes are between 25 and 40 minutes long. Apple Fitness+ is currently only available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. It is currently unclear when the new service will launch in Germany.
