Two days ago, the EU Commission asked all streaming services to temporarily reduce streaming quality in order to reduce the burden on general bandwidth.

Now Apple is said to have also changed the bitrate of its own service Apple TV+. According to the US blog 9to5mac, the streaming quality has now also been reduced on Apple TV+. Streaming should now be possible with lower resolution and heavily compressed content. According to the report, the reduced quality is said to be "very noticeable", especially on larger televisions with 4K support. The resolutions should be up to 670 pixels high - explains 9to5mac.
So far without statement
Compared to other services such as Netflix, which have also reduced the quality, Apple's streaming quality is described as "particularly aggressive". Basically, it currently resembles a cell phone stream via a 3G network. While Netflix must initially offer the reduced streaming quality for 30 days, nothing is known about Apple. The company has not yet made a statement on the matter. It therefore remains unclear how long this situation will last. This measure currently only affects Europe.
