Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 7 almost two weeks ago. However, not all details were announced. Now, thanks to the official FCC documents, a new feature has been discovered.

From the FCC documents It appears that the Apple Watch Series 7 has a 60.5 GHz wireless module for fast data transfers. What it is used for, however, remains unclear. The 60.5 GHz module is only activated when connected to a proprietary wireless serial dock. This rules out the wireless module being used in normal operation and is likely limited to internal Apple development tools or use in the Apple Store. The FCC document, first reported by MacRumors discovered contains information about the proprietary dock developed by Apple. It has a USB-C port and carries the serial number A2687.

Apple Watch Series 7: When will it be launched?

The usefulness of the module is questionable, however, as the 60.5 GHz radio enables speeds of around 200 megabits per second - less than half the maximum of USB 2.0. WiFi is able to transmit data at much higher speeds and over greater distances. So the whole thing is sure to remain exciting. Anyone interested in the new Apple Watch generation will have to be patient. Although Apple has already presented the product, it remains unclear when the market launch will take place. Apple only states "Available later this fall". (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
